Fall Workshop at OCAC

Hi Everyone! I'm teaching another workshop this fall. Details are below. I'm very excited about this one as it utilizes one of my favorite techniques. There's still room, so sign up quickly before it fills!

Embroidering on Air:
Using Water-Soluble Stabilizers
FT704 • SEP 25-OCT 2 (2 sessions); SAT 9:00AM-4:00PM
TUITION RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE 9/15/2010: $150
TUITION RECEIVED AFTER 9/15/2010: $170

Solvy is a water-soluble fabric stabilizer which can be used to create lace-like fiber structures.
This intensive two-day workshop exploresfree-motion embroidery and layering techniques using Solvy to create beautiful and unique pieces of art. Students begin by experimenting
and creating samples to use as a starting point. Each student will create a project of their own design. Projects could include a three-dimensional embellishment for a garment, a piece of
fiber jewelry or a stand-alone piece of art. Students of all levels interested in broadening their
range of fiber techniques are bound to enjoy learning about the magic of Solvy! Prerequisite:
Basic machine sewing skills. Location: Construction Studio

Stitching Workshop This Summer

I'm happy to announce that I'll be teaching a workshop this summer at Oregon College of Art and Craft. Please see description below, and hurry to sign up as space is limited! You can register at http://www.ocac.edu/

The Quilting Stitch as Mark-Making
FT706 • JUL 29-AUG 1 (4 sessions); THUR-SUN 9:00AM-4:00PM
TUITION RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE JULY 20: $300
TUITION RECEIVED AFTER JULY 20: $320
STUDIO FEE $3

The quilting stitch not only joins the quilt’s layers, but also provides an opportunity to add design and personal expression to the finished quilt. In this workshop we will learn to generate multiple designs for a whole-cloth quilt top while we explore how hand and machine stitching can support personal mark-making as artistic expression. No prerequisite. Location: Construction Studio
